How do you determine helmet size?
The best place to measure for helmet sizing is two finger widths just above the eyebrows, directly above the ears and around the widest area at the back of your head. When measuring, the measuring tape should be nearly skin tight without applying constricting pressure.
Where do you measure your head for a helmet?
How do you measure head circumference for a helmet?
- Start measuring just above the ear.
- Wrap the tape measure around their head, passing 1” above the eyebrows in front, above the other ear, and around the back of the head.
- Write down the measurement where the tape meets itself.
How tight should a helmet fit?
The helmet should fit snugly and may even feel a bit too tight until it is in place correctly. If the helmet has a neck roll, it shouldn’t push the helmet away from the back of your neck. On full-face helmets, press on the chin piece. The helmet or face shield should not touch your nose or chin.
How do I know if my helmet is too small?
Your helmet is too small if you feel pressure on your head, especially at the wider extremities or where the inner liner snap buttons are. Wearing a helmet that’s too small will give you a headache (from the pressure on the skin/skull) within minutes.
